Submitting this form does not bind you to participating. Applications are not approved on a first-come, first-served basis. All applications will be assessed based on current group composition and openings, class teacher needs, alignment with philosophy, and personality fit. Application approvals and final decisions will be made by our leadership team and notifications will be sent out to all applicants by the middle of June.

The family fee and contract will be due August 2 for Term 1 or whole year registrations. Applications are currently open for families that have at least 1 student ages 6+ (younger siblings welcome as well).  Fill out the form below to learn more about our programs and begin your application.

Your Homeschool Journey

i.e. Are you intrigued but haven't made changes to your homeschool? Do you have experience teaching multiple forms using CM methods? Are there books/podcasts/conferences that have informed your educational philosophy?

What subjects are not being covered well at home?

The core idea for this community is to complement and relieve the morning lesson timetable/schedule, not add work to your other days. Many CM subjects are only scheduled once or twice a week. We do not want to cover subjects that are expected daily and we do not want to do things that would be considered extraneous. We want this group to be a place to come together to fill each other's gaps. We all have gaps. Our hope with this question is to schedule classes that fill most people's gaps, not to

Expectations

You are not committing to anything by submitting this application, but we do want to be up front about the expectations for each family and parent participating. Please read through the following expectations, check that you understand, and provide any comments or questions you may have below.

  1. We expect our community to be built upon mutual respect, expressed in our words and actions. Bullying and gossip will not be tolerated.

  2. We expect our community to show up for one another. Attendance is expected unless there is a sickness or planned travel. If there is a planned absence, the Assistant teacher is expected to fill in for the week. In the event of an unexpected absence, either the Assistant Teacher or the Substitute will fill in.

  3. We expect our community to strive for the ideals of a Charlotte Mason education (atmosphere, discipline, life). There are many options for co-ops and learning groups. What makes this one unique is that we are aiming at a true Charlotte Mason education, done in community. All teaching strategies, work assignments, class selections, etc. will be made with the CM filter. We are not narrowing to a particular curriculum or resource, but rather we are staying within the CM method and framework.  All curricula will be approved by the leadership team to maintain this vision.

  4. We expect our students to come prepared to learn and share. Education is the work of the student and requires preparation, participation, and narration.

  5. We expect our students to grow in good habits during their time at co-op. Most especially, all parent-teachers should expect attention, obedience, and truthfulness. No child is perfect, so parent-teachers will continually guide children back and reinforce good habits.

  6. We expect our parents to model a love for learning and a continual desire for knowledge. We will have a Mama Book Club once a month on an evening, working through a CM volume or related book, so that we can continue to refine our craft and make plans and choices that are internally consistent.

  7. We expect our parents to actively participate in a variety of ways - teaching, assisting, cleaning, organizing, etc. The parent-teachers are expected to use their “thinking love” to plan and prepare with excellence, understanding that they are not the “showman of the universe.” As Charlotte says of her Great Recognition, “God, the Holy Spirit, is Himself the supreme Educator of mankind.”

  8. We expect to share the financial cost of doing this work together, while keeping costs low. Each class will receive a small stipend for supplies with additional funds being used for an expert teacher for some particular subject if necessary and agreed to by the parents.

  9. We expect the co-op leadership team to support and strengthen teacher parents with curriculum help, lesson planning assistance, and substitutes when needed. Teachers are persons too, and you are not alone!

  10. We expect timely, open communication and respectful conflict resolution. We expect hurt feelings, unmet expectations, mistakes with consequences, and many other learning opportunities. After all, this is a community of persons. As a community, however, we will deal with our conflict directly - person to person - in a timely manner. We will offer apologies and encourage forgiveness.
